The State of Homelessness & Affordable Housing
The Washtenaw Housing Alliance (WHA), in partnership with member agencies, will host its first in-person event since 2020. This year’s State of Homelessness & Affordable Housing will most definitely have a lot to cover.
The last time the WHA convened this event was in 2019. Since then, the City of Ann Arbor’s Affordable Housing Millage was passed by voters in November 2020 – an important vote as it will raise approximately $6.6 million for affordable housing. And, of course, there has been a global pandemic which has placed a heavy demand on human services staff and programs.
Yet, in this time we saw how significant of an impact eviction moratoriums and emergency federal funding – some of the broadest types of funds to spend in recent decades – had on widening the spread of safety net services. Living through these pandemic times, we have felt real energy and power through movements and actions that call for us not to go back to the times before.
WHA is grateful to all who will join us on November 15th for a morning of community conversations and first-person storytelling critical to our collective movement to end homelessness. For more information on the event visit whalliance.org/state-of-homelessness-event.
The State of Homelessness & Affordable Housing is one of many events taking place during Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (HHAW), November 12-20, 2022. Check out below what WHA member agencies and community groups also have planned. More information on the National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week and the nearly 700 other event locations planned across the nation for that week is at hhweek.org.
