Tomorrow night Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners are scheduled to vote on whether to ask residents on the November 5th ballot to re-up the 1-mill mental health and public safety preservation millage for another eight years after it expires in 2025. They’re also tinkering with policy requirements on how the money is to be spent.
One new draft ordinance added includes directing half of the sheriff’s portion of the budget to go to violence interruption and housing-related services (such as Rapid Re-Housing and Permanent Supportive Housing). More information on the millage vote is available in MLive.com’s June 3rd article here.
If this millage is approved for the ballot, it will join two other countywide tax renewals already set for a vote on Nov. 5. The meeting with final votes set for the millage renewal and expenditure ordinance can be viewed in-person at 220 N. Main St. in Ann Arbor or via an online livestream.
