Housing Homestretch Campaign Kickoff Meeting (Virtual)

Virtual - zoom

REGISTER for the kick-off meeting 8/27 at 1pm

Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness (MCAH) has partnered with the Rent is Too Damn High Coalition to launch the Housing Homestretch 2024 Campaign. From now through December, we will be pushing the legislature to pass seven essential tenant protections and we need your help to bring these bills to the finish line!

 Housing Homestretch Legislative Priorities

Source of Income Protections HB 4062-3SB 205

Eviction Expungement and Sealing SB 801

Right to Organize & Right to Repair SB 900-903

Fair Chance Access to Housing HB 4878

Manufactured Housing Regulation HB 5157-63SB 486-492

Rental Junk Fee Regulation SB 661

Tenants Right to Counsel HB 5237-8

Thanks to our collective advocacy, we’ve seen important wins for affordable housing and homeless services in Michigan over the past two years. We’ve relentlessly advocated for Source of Income legislation, which passed the full House. The state budget included increases to fund housing development and supportive housing, and tenant unions have grown rapidly across the state.

But folks, the work isn’t over yet. The legislature has introduced over sixty housing related bills this session, but has yet to pass any critical tenant protections that will change renters’ and unhoused folks’ lives for the better.

We need all hands on deck to end this session strong and push these bills across the finish line in the Housing Homestretch. Support the campaign today.
